Sonia Torrey, TLPC-MHSP
Sonia Torrey, MS, NCC, earned her Bachelor’s degree from Auburn University in Auburn, AL, and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Memphis. Sonia is a National Certified Counselor. She is experienced in individual and group work with children, adolescents, and adults, having earned national certification as an addiction counselor in various settings including a recovery residence and an intensive outpatient program for substance abuse. She received her master’s level training at Kindred Place, formerly the Exchange Club Family Center, serving families affected by domestic violence, including facilitating trauma-focused groups for children and adult anger management. Additionally, Sonia trained at Daybreak Treatment Center, which utilizes DBT in a partial hospitalization setting for adolescents with mental health and behavioral issues. Sonia’s approach is holistic and grounded in motivational interviewing, and she utilizes cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic techniques in her clinical work. Sonia is a member of the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, and the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
