Meet Our Clinical Staff at Mental Health Resources
Irfan Ali, M.D. is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist, received his medical training in 1989 from the Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan, followed by a surgery residency. He then served as a Medical Officer in hospital settings until 1994, at which time he was accepted at the University of Tennessee Psychiatry Residency Program. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee in 1998, and went on to finish a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry there in 2000. He then worked at a community mental health center in Jackson, TN, where he treated adults, adolescents and geriatrics on an in and outpatient basis, including Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs. He also served as the Medical Director for an Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center in Jackson. He left the mental health center in 2008 to establish his private practice.
Lindsey Foxx, LPC is a counselor with a specialization in expressive art communication. Lindsey has worked with clients across the life span and with a wide range of concerns including: frustration tolerance, depression, stress, anxiety, parenting problems, motivation and self-confidence issues. She also has experience working with individuals who have experienced mental or physical trauma. Lindsey currently works as a counselor and case manager providing psycho-educational information to groups through Mental Health Resource’s intensive outpatient program (IOP). Lindsey also uses art therapy in conjunction with counseling for individuals and groups when clients express interest.
Lindsey’s counseling style is person-centered which means the client’s preferences guide the course of sessions. She believes that a person’s life position can move forward or backward and through interaction with knowledge, work, and play, a person can manage their movement and direction. Small steps in a direction toward relief can ease suffering and lead to giant leaps in the health and happiness of your mind. When you are ready to take the first step or if you need a little help along your already established journey, Lindsey will be there to provide support.
Neil Vause, M.S., earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in Psychology and his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University.
He has experience working with those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and substance use disorders. Neil has worked with children, adolescents, adults, and their families throughout the Memphis and Shelby County area providing IOP, in-home, and residential based services.
Neil relies on evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral based skills training, and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in our Mental Health and Dual Diagnosis IOPs.
Olivia received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Rhodes College in 2017 and received her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Memphis in 2022. Olivia utilizes an integrative therapy approach. Psychoanalytically, she seeks to understand how a client’s current problem thoughts and behaviors once served a purpose in their life. She implements cognitive behavioral therapy to assist the client in identifying their own unique thought, emotion, behavior cycle and recognizing its negative consequences. Olivia promotes the evidence behind cognitive restructuring and guides clients in developing new, more productive thoughts that generate more productive behaviors. Olivia implements solutions-focused therapy as a way to provide clients with the tools necessary to cope with the inevitability of life’s challenges. Olivia enjoys and has had experience working with clients suffering from anxiety, depression, and trauma. She has a strong passion for working with patients struggling with substance abuse and has found Motivational Interviewing to be effective in this process. She is educated on the complexity of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and employs Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for clients with OCD and similar anxiety disorders.
Sonia Torrey, LPC-MHSP, NCC, CACII, is our Intensive Outpatient Coordinator (IOP), overseeing the day-to-day operations in all of our IOP treatment tracks. Sonia earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Auburn University, and her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Memphis. Sonia is a National Certified Counselor with her LPC-MHSP license. She is also a Level II Certified Addiction Counselor. She is experienced in individual and group work with children, adolescents, and adults. She has worked at the residential, IOP, PHP, and routine outpatient levels of care. She has worked with issues related to domestic violence, other trauma-focused groups, anger management, depression, anxiety, addiction, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She has direct experience with DBT programming, Motivational Interviewing, 12-step work, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Inhibitory Learning, and other evidence-based approaches. Sonia is a member of the American Counseling Association, Chi Sigma Iota, and the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.
