Kim McCaskill, LPC-MHSP
Kim McCaskill, LPC-MHSP, has been a mental health practitioner for over seventeen years. She holds the Approved Supervisor designation as an LPC-MHSP in the state of Tennessee. She strives to offer a warm, professional, non-judgmental approach in all services she provides to clients. In addition to mood, trauma, and anxiety disorders, she has a special interest in chronic pain management, self image issues, healthy lifestyle maintenance, insomnia, serving the LGBT community, and serving persons from any religious or non-religious background. She is invested in evidence based treatment and working with clinicians who strive to improve professionally throughout the span of their careers. Upon completing her M.S. in Counseling Psychology in 2000, she worked in a community behavioral health setting, serving in a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults and seniors at Pine Belt Mental Health in Hattiesburg, MS where she also assisted in opening a satellite treatment center for seniors. Upon moving to Memphis in 2001, she worked in an inpatient unit for severely mentally ill and low-income adults. She subsequently became employed at MHR where she worked for over fourteen years in their IOP programs. She was the IOP Coordinator for nine years overseeing daily operations and supervising the treatment team. She provided individual and group based supervision to clinicians seeking state licensure and interns seeking their master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling. She also provided routine outpatient therapy for clients in need of both short-term and longer term treatment. In March of 2017 she opened a successful private practice, providing individual therapy to adults. Becoming Director of Midsouth Professional Counseling in August of 2018 creates the perfect opportunity to expand a thriving outpatient group practice and provide more services to those in need. In addition to her clinical work, she has presented on Motivational Interviewing for EAPA and served on an Advisory Board for the Master’s in Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Memphis. Her interests outside of work include time with her family and friends, reading, serving as a volunteer running coach for children and women, and participating in community cleanups.
EAP’s, intensive outpatient and partial hospital programs. She has experience with work place stress, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety and addiction / substance abuse. She utilizes a strengths based orientation, relying on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients achieve their goals.
