Edward A. Wise, Ph.D. is a licensed Health Service Provider in Psychology and the President as well as founder of Mental Health Resources, PLLC. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis and Ph.D. from the University of Wyoming. He has been in practice for over 25 years, treating individuals in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings. He has extensive experience with mood disorders, substance abuse disorders and personality disorders. He conducts psychological and forensic evaluations, including pre-surgical, fitness for duty and risk for violence assessments. He has published extensively in peer reviewed journals and has served as a Reviewer for many esteemed publications. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment, Diplomate of the American College of Forensic Examiners and Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academies of Practice. He has been nominated as a Health Care Hero by the Memphis Business Journal, received the American Psychological Association’s Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Independent Practice and was named Outstanding Alumnus by the University of Wyoming.

Kim McCaskill, M.S. is a Licensed Professional Counselor who received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Mississippi and her Master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2000. She has achieved the specialty Mental Health Services Designation from the State of Tennessee and conducts individual and group therapy. She has worked with adults in both outpatient and hospital settings. She is the IOP Coordinator for both the Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis programs, conducting both a traditional process group as well as numerous coping skill training groups. Her special interests include the treatment of depression, substance abuse, anxiety, anger and family of origin issues. She is a member in the American Counseling Association and the Tennessee Licensed Professional Counselor’s Association.
Marti Stepherson, M.S., is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a specialty Mental Health Services Designation who earned her Bachelors degree in Psychology at University of Memphis and her Master’s degree in Counseling at the University of Memphis. She has experience working with individuals, families and groups in transitions or crises. She provides psychoeducational groups in our IOP and adopts her cognitive behavioral approach to fit the person and their life context. She has experience working with a diversity of adult populations with different ages, ethnic, cultural, spiritual, economic, and mental health needs. Her special interests include depression, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, and PTSD. She is a member of American Counseling Association, American Psychological Association, and Chi Sigma Iota, an International Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society where she served as past co-president of the Memphis chapter.
Carolyn Jones received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis in 1972 and her MSSW from the University of Tennessee in 1982. She is Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Clinical Social Worker. Carolyn has over 24 years of experience providing individual, group, family and crisis counseling to children, adolescents, adults and families on both hospital and outpatient settings. She worked for a national managed care organization as an Employee Assistance Program counselor. She has provided Intakes and group therapy to psychiatric and substance abuse patients in Partial Hospitalization Programs. She has also worked in a hospice program where she obtained extensive experience working with grief and loss.
Katie Webb received her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, after completing her B.A. in psychology at UNC. In addition to being the recipient of numerous academic awards and honors (e.g., Outstanding Student Award, Social Work Honor Society, Student Government Association, etc.), she also achieved a National Ranking as a Gymnast, taught at the National Outdoor Leadership School and received the ACC Scholar-Athlete Award. Prior to completing her Master’s degree in social work, she worked as a Marketing Assistant, Recruitment Manager and Marketing Manager. She has provided clinical services at Catholic Charities, Rhodes College and Agape Child and Family Services. Her experience includes working with individuals who have alcohol, drug, eating and dual disorders, as well as those who suffer from depression, anxiety, loss and domestic abuse.
Anne Knight, M.S.S.W, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and received her M.S.S.W. from UT, Memphis. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Tennessee and Mississippi. She started her career at Family Services of the Mid South, where she was the Director of the 24 hour Crisis Intervention Service. She was directly responsible for the training and coordination of volunteers to provide emergency services to individuals in acute psychiatric distress. During her 16 year tenure at Family Services, she served a diverse population and maintained a caseload of individual, couple and group therapy clients. She also worked closely with the legal system, providing groups for domestic violence offenders. Anne has always had a keen interested in the treatment of the co-occurrence of psychiatric and addictive disorders and has worked at various treatment facilities serving this population, including a methadone maintenance clinic, a residential treatment facility and an inpatient facility. She has a wealth of experience, having served in a multitude of roles, from Counselor to Program Director. She specializes in addictive and dual disorders, as well as codependency. Anne is a member of National Association of Social Workers and volunteers her services at the Crisis Center and Juvenile Court.
Patricia Duda received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree (2007) from the University of Central Florida at Orlando, where she had extensive training in marriage and family therapy. Following her graduation, she was hired by the renowned Renfrew Eating Disorders program as an Aftercare Coordinator. She is currently pursuing licensure in Tennessee as an LPC. In addition to her experience working with patients suffering from depression and anxiety disorders, her special interests include working with young adults, women’s issues, eating disorders and other dual diagnosis disorders.
Irfan Ali, M.D., received his medical training in 1989 from the Rawalpindi Medical College, Pakistan, followed by a surgery residency. He then served as a Medical Officer in hospital settings until 1994, at which time he was accepted at the University of Tennessee Psychiatry Residency Program. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee in 1998, and went on to finish a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry there in 2000. He then worked at a community mental health center in Jackson, TN, where he treated adults, adolescents and geriatrics on an in and outpatient basis, including Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs. He also served as the Medical Director for an Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Center in Jackson. He left the mental health center in 2008 to establish his private practice.
Robert Fink, M.D. completed his psychiatric residency at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in 1971. He has over 40 years of experience specializing in the treatment of depression, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, co-morbid medical conditions and general adult psychiatry. Previously, Dr. Fink has served as the Psychiatric Medical Director at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis Mental Health Institute, Tri-County Mental Health Center and New Day Partial Hospitalization Program. He has also served on the medical staff at Delta Medical Center, the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences and at both Baptist and St. Francis hospitals. He was Certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 1989, served as the State Director for the American Medical Society of Alcoholism, and was a Consultant to the Army Alcoholism Program. Dr. Fink has published more than 20 peer reviewed articles, chapters and text books related to the assessment and treatment of substance abuse and general adult psychiatry.
Dr. Mukatira completed her B.S. degree from Purdue University. She obtained her M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Mukatira completed an internship year in Internal Medicine and a three year Psychiatry residency training at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Mukatira specializes in the treatment of depression, alcohol abuse, drug abuse, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, and general adult psychiatry. Dr. Mukatira's work experience has included treatment inpatient psychiatric and substance abuse patients. She is certified to prescribe Buprenorphine for detoxification on an outpatient basis. Her work has included supervising a day-treatment program and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder program within the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Lisa Burnside is our Office Manager and oversees our daily office
operations, including Billing, Collections and Patient Accounts. Lisa
has over 15 years of experience in various medical settings, including
rehabilitation, oncology and mental health. She has served as an
Accounts Receivable Manager, Regional Business Office Manager,
Business Office Manager and Director of Billing and Reimbursement in
corporate, private practice and community mental health settings. She
has performed all Business Office and Human Resource functions,
participated in Quality Assurance Audits, Facility Site Reviews,
provider credentialing and managed care contracting.
Deborah Mosby works in the Front Office as our Receptionist / Billing Clerk. In addition to checking patients in and out, she answers our multi-line phones, verifies and files insurance, posts charges and payments, and coordinates appointments. Deborah has over 20 years of experience related to Front Desk, billing and collections, in medical, hospital and private practice settings. She has previously worked in oncology, podiatry, and mental health practices. She has functioned effectively as a Receptionist, Patient Account Representative, and Executive Secretary.
Bertha Starks now works with us part time, after nearly 10 years as a full time Receptionist / Billing clerk. Bertha primarily follows up on insurance claims and helps clients work out account balances. Bertha has a life long history of service in various administrative and secretarial capacities, but prior to coming to work for us, she retired from the Defense Depot after 29 years, where she worked in numerous roles, including Inventory Management Specialist, Supervisor and Labor and Employee Relations Specialist. After she retired from the Defense Depot she served as the Secretary to the Pastor of her church and then came to work for us in 1996. Since retiring from MHR, Bertha has enjoyed spending time every day with her grandchildren, and comes to work with us in her spare time.
Tammy Counce is our Patient Account Representative and Billing Specialist. She has worked in the medical arena for over 25 years with over 20 of that in the mental health field. During her career she has worked in a variety of positions, including Receptionist and Billing Clerk. For example, she started out as a Medical Secretary and Receptionist, where she checked patients in and out, answered phones, filed insurance, took transcription and collected on accounts. She has been responsible for and supervised the posting and billing of patient accounts, filing insurance, payment collections, scheduling appointments, and working accounts receivable. She has been promoted from Staffing Coordinator to Staffing Manager, and eventually became an Office Manager, where she supervised each of these positions. Tammy prides herself on being a team player with a strong work ethic.
Barbara Boydston has been with us for over 20 years and also works part time. She has been employed as a Receptionist and Transcriptionist in the mental health field for over 30 years. Barbara works behind the scenes, typing all of our reports, evaluations and manuscripts. She occasionally answers the phones and fills in at the front desk when needed.
